Looking for WiFi password on Windows 7, was pretty simple and straight forward. All you had to do was

  • Click the WiFi icon in the system tray.
  • From the pop-up menu, right-click on the network you wanted to view the password and click on properties.
  • In the properties window, you had to navigate to Security tab and could see the WiFi password. With Windows 10 this option has become harder to access.

Click on the WiFi icon in the system tray, list of all available networks will be visible to you. From here, you can only choose a network to connect to but cannot view the network properties. The network properties is where the password is stored and can be viewed.

To get to the properties window for your currently connected WiFi network, right-click the WiFi icon in the system tray and select “Open Network and Sharing Center“.

It will open the Network and Sharing Center as shown below. Then click the network you’re connected to appearing as a link next to the Connections field.

The above option will open a Wireless Network Connection Status window for that WiFi network. Click the Wireless Properties button (highlighted below) to get to the wireless network properties. Navigate to the Security tab and check the “Show characters” check box to view the password.
